Right on time for the PlayStation 4’s second birthday, Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced that their newest video game console has cumulatively sold more than 30 million units worldwide.

The announcement comes ahead of the United States of America’s annual “Black Friday Sale”, whereby  Sony is offering a $300 PS4 bundle with Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection in the U.S. (The bundle is $369.99 CAD in Canada, while there are also other deals for fans in Europe). No word on whether these deals will be seen in South Africa.

In terms of the competition, Microsoft no longer offers statistical figures for the total number of consoles sold. However, VGChartz has estimated that the total number of Xbox One units shifted to date is 15.6 million units, whilst Nintendo is estimated to have sold close to 11 million Wii Us.

With over 30 Million PlayStation 4 systems now out in the wild, it goes without saying that it is currently this generation’s most bought and played console.
