Blizzard Entertainment’s incredibly popular online card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, is getting another expansion.
Whispers of the Old Gods, a deliberate reference to famous old English author H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos, will bring a brand new set of cards in the form of a 50-pack bundle. The bundle may be purchased on any platform the game is available on via Hearthstone’s in-game store. Pre-purchasing the expansion will also award players with an exclusive ‘card back’ that players will be allowed to use immediately.
In order to get ready for the expansion, as well as the brand new Standard of playing, Blizzard released a brand new patch which addresses a number of bug fixes on all platforms and enables brand new functionality in the game.
The new features include the ability for all players to now have up to 18 custom decks as soon as they unlock all nine heroes; a brand new Deck Recipe function which allows players to create and save blueprints of entire decks – making it easier for new players – as well as a brand new hero for all players who reach level 20 with a new character in World of Warcraft, Blizzard’s infamous MMORPG (Massively-multiplayer Online Role-playing Game).
Blizzard also promised an incoming celebration for the second year the game is active. Having recently reached the 40-million player milestone at the end of last year and the game now being available natively in Thai, the company seems to be going into 2016 stronger than ever.
