CD Projekt Red’s hotly anticipated new title, Cyberpunk 2077 is officially here! In addition to the incredible competitions we are running, we decided to celebrate the release of the game by unboxing the highly sought after Collector’s Edition as well as the rare Reviewers Kit.

For those who may not know, the game takes place in the not too distant future. Corporations rule the world and cybernetic augmentation is a way of life. Little is known about the story, but if it is anything like the narrative from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, then it stands to reason that Cyberpunk 2077 will be a modern masterpiece. It stars Keanu Reeves in a leading role – as if we needed any further reason to purchase and enjoy game!

There are a few versions of Cyberpunk 2077 available for purchase. As an owner of the gobsmaskingly gorgeous The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt collector’s edition, my money went to buying and unboxing Cyberpunk 2077 collector’s edition. I was hoping CD Projekt Red would not skimp on the quality of this collector’s edition; and I was only part right.

Regardless of which version gamers purchase, the following digital bonuses are included:

  • Game soundtrack
  • Art booklet featuring a selection of art from the game
  • Cyberpunk 2020 sourcebook
  • Wallpapers for desktop and mobile

Regarding the Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition, it includes these digital bonuses as well as the following from the standard edition:

  • Case with game discs
  • World Compendium detailing the game’s setting and lore
  • Postcards from Night City
  • Map of Night City
  • Stickers

Of course, it would not be a Collector’s Edition without some truly unique items. In this sense it includes everything from the Standard Edition and its pre-order bonuses and all of the following:

  • Collector’s Edition box (this really is something special)
  • 25cm x 10″ statue depicting V – the game’s protagonist – in action
  • Hardcover art book
  • Metal pin set
  • Quadra V-tech metal keychain
  • Annotated copy of A Visitor’s Guide to Night City sealed in an NCPD Evidence Bag
  • Embroidered patches
  • Sticker bomb set

After unboxing the Cyberpunk 2077 Collector’s Edition, I feel I can admit that I expected more. For a start, the ‘V’ statuette is made of plastic. The same generic plastic most video game collectibles feature. This is a far cry from the gorgeous and seemingly hand painted statue included with The Witcher 3, and is absolutely disappointing for anyone who may own that collector’s edition. Rather than the included ‘V’ figure being bad, it is just not of the expected quality and is certainly not worthy of the premium US $250/R4600 price tag of the entire set.

In terms of the rest of the goodies, they are most certainly nice to have. The patches, pins, stickers and keyring are all of a high quality. However, it is the art book that absolutely steels the show. This wonderful piece of literature is of a very high quality, with a thick cover and beautifully glossy pages. The packaging is also very premium for what is included.

In addition to the normal collector’s edition, I also received the rare reviewers kit from CD Project Red. This package is only gifted to reviewers selected by the developers and includes a ‘thank you’ note, copy of the game’s score, a Night City guide, and a lovely commemorative Night City flag.

Code for the game was received today, but we have decided not to rush through the game. As such, our review will only be made available in 2021. Until then, enjoy our unboxing video and let us know what you think of it down below.
