Apart from seeing Mario sit on a Throne of Games, have you ever wondered which Game of Thrones family motto would best describe the wonderful world of Pokémon or which banner would best represent Dragon Ball’s infamous warrior, Son Goku? If you have, you might be in luck because these are the questions that artist Fabio Di Corleto attempts to answer with his unique ‘Game of Thrones: Alternate Houses’ series of artworks; based on the popular HBO series created from George R. R. Martin’s books.
The concept for the Italian illustrator and designer’s work is quite simple, yet the results of his creations are nothing short of geektastic. Nintendo’s Bowser crossed over with House Lannister, for example, is easily the standout creation in Di Coreleto’s work, since it matches the style of the HBO series whilst matching the aesthetic and colour of Mario’s arch nemesis. Likewise, Spyro the Dragon is the perfect embodiment of House Targaryean as is Mortal Kombat’s Sub Zero for House Stark.
