Immortals of Aveum is probably one of the most anticipated games coming from Electronic Arts in 2023. Seemingly coming out of nowhere at The Game Awards 2022, the game promises to deliver a thrilling and immersive experience of first-person magic shooting in a brand new fantasy world. The game is being developed by Ascendant Studios, and is the first title to be developed under this studio, which is comprised of veterans from Sledgehammer Games (Call of Duty) and Telltale Games. The new title is set to launch on 22 August, 2023, and coinciding with the launch is the release of the Immortals of Aveum Original Soundtrack.

According to Ascendant Studios, the Immortals of Aveum Original Soundtrack will provide a “musical journey through the world of Aveum”, where the protagonist Jak discovers his magic, faces Rasharn’s deadly forces, and uncovers ancient secrets in hopes of saving the realms. The album features 24 tracks, composed by a talented team of musicians led by game audio director Aubrey Hodges, music producer Jamie K, and media composer Tom Hawk. Rather interestingly, the soundtrack is said to blend hip-hop, orchestral, electronic, chill, ambient, industrial, and “more” into a captivating fantasy soundscape “that ignites the imagination”.

One of the highlights of the soundtrack is the Immortals of Aveum theme song, which was exclusively revealed by Game Informer on 4 August, 2023. The theme song is a powerful and epic piece setting the tone for the game’s story and gameplay. It features a catchy melody, a dynamic orchestration, and, as is the norm for music at the moment, a rap verse introducing Jak and his quest. The theme song also showcases the hybrid style of the soundtrack, combining traditional instruments with modern beats and synths.

The composers of the soundtrack also shared their inspiration and process for creating the score in the interview with Game Informer. They explained how they wanted to create a new musical and sonic experience that would feel fresh and unique to listeners. They also revealed some of the instruments and techniques they used to achieve their vision, such as a bass ocarina, a modular synthesiser, and a custom-made guitar.

Much like modern day game albums, the Immortals of Aveum Original Soundtrack is not only a companion to the game, but also a standalone work of art to be enjoyed by anyone who loves music. In many ways, soundtracks serve as a testament to the creativity and passion of the composers and the developers who bring games to life, allowing gamers to relive their favourite moments.

The Immortals of Aveum Original Soundtrack soundtrack will be available on digital platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, and more, once launch day arrives. Audio listeners who prefer physical media will also be happy to know how the soundtrack will be available on vinyl or CD from the Ascendant Studios website.
