A little while ago, Vamers was fortunate enough to get a hands-on with the Sony SRS-XB21 EXTRA BASS wireless speaker. Now you can experience the excellent water and dust proof SRS-XB speakers for yourself, as they are now available in South Africa.

The three portable SRS-XB speakers are practical “life proof”. This means that in addition to being water and dust proof, they are near impossible to destroy via normal falls. Sony claims that the new SRS-XB41, SRS-XB31, and SRS-XB21 EXTRA BASS wireless speakers deliver the “ultimate music experience”. I mean, they are not wrong.

While they do sound superb, the SRS-XB speakers are also available in a number of colours. Prospective owners can get them in red, blue, and black. Each speaker features a cool mesh design that is solid to the touch. Sony says that the design of the speakers is robust and washable so on “odd spillage” would never be an issue. With that said, the speakers are, for all intent and purpose, waterproof with an IP67 rating. This means that they can be dropped into the pool for up to 30 minutes before you need to worry about damage.

In essence, the SRS-XB speakers are “all about that bass” and are designed to sustain and focus on deep bass and punch bass rhythms. This means that electronic dance music (EDM) and other bass-heavy genres, such as hip-hop and grime, come through crystal clear in the most audio-intensive scenarios. Users can also create “three-dimensional” experiences with unique Live Sound modes. These allow for “concert experiences in the living room”.

You should not let their sizes fool you either. During my time with the speaker, I went an entire week without a single charge! Sony claims that the SRS-XB speakers have 24-hour battery life. That is a lot of battery for consecutive music play.

I called the SRS-XB21 a tiny powerhouse, and that is truly what it is. I particularly liked how it sounded great, regardless of where I took it, or how many people were in any given room with me. If you are in the market for a new portable Bluetooth speaker and are not sure of which one you should get, the XB21 is a no-brainer.

With that said, you can pick up any of the three SRS-XB speakers, in any colour, at Musica, DionWired, and Incredible Connection. Their recommended retail prices are R3 999, for the SRS-XB41; R2 999 for the SRS-XB31; and R1 599 for the SRS-XB21.
