Easily one of 2023’s most anticipated titles, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally here! Officially launching on the 20th of October 2023, the game is the sequel to Spider-Man (2018), and its spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). To celebrate the release of the title, PlayStation Australia has created an outstanding new installation where Spider-Man saves a truck from catastrophe!

Known as the “Spectacular Save”, the temporary art installation (which is also a glorified advertisement) will be available at Waterman’s Cove in Barangaroo for Sydneysiders to enjoy from the 20th of October through to 16:00 (4pm) on Sunday the 22nd of October 2023.

The “Spectacular Save” is quite a sight, featuring a truck – seemingly carrying Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 merchandise – suspended in mid-air with white and black webs. It is safe to say, Sydneysiders were not expecting to go for a stroll this weekend and spot a scene out of a movie (or in this case, a game) where Spider-Man saves a truck.

Fans also have the opportunity to interact with a selection of actors portraying Non-Playable Character (NPC) police officers – who will often humorously guide visitors to the on-site photographer – whilst eagled eyed gamers should look out for a few mysterious tidbits around the installation, some with villainous origins!

Overall, it is a very well thought out installation and gamers and fans are encouraged to visit the site, as it brings a wonderful real-world level of immersion to the Marvel character.

Activations like these are fairly rare, but very appreciated as they allow us all, for just a moment, to embrace a marvellously created suspension of belief. PlayStation AU’s Director of Marketing, Patrick Lagana sums it up nicely “The Spectacular Save installation captures the power and imagination of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man franchise for PS5, and shows how we can ‘Be Greater. Together.’”

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows the adventures of Peter Parker and Miles Morales, two Spider-Men who protect New York City from various threats. The game is developed by Insomniac Games, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and is exclusive to the PlayStation 5 (at least for now).

The game releases on October 20, 2023, and is receiving critical acclaim for its story, gameplay, graphics and content. Unfortunately Vamers does not have a review available at this time as PlayStation, rather surprisingly given our professional working history, did not provide review access to this title.
