Singer, song writer and producer P!nk (Alecia Beth Moore) recently covered the song “White Rabbit” for the movie Alice Through the looking Glass (2016), starring Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter and Mia Wasikowska as Alice alongside Anne Hathaway, Rys Ifans, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen (yup, the guy whose sister is “number four prostitute in all of Kazakhstan” – Borat)

The song ‘White Rabbit’ was originally written by Grace Slick and recorded by the American Psychadelic Rock band known as Jefferson Airplane for their 1967 album, “Surrealistic Pillow”. The song was released as a single and soon became one of the band’s top songs, reaching 483 on the Rolling Stones list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

P!nk breathes a new life into this track with her awesome vocal runs as well as the power behind her voice. Although the song is not in the typical style of P!nk, that did not stop her from giving the song an intriguing sound. The artist has said that she likes ‘quirky’ and ‘weird’, which is why she had “a lot of fun” singing this song. I think they most definitely chose the right artist to do this track.

Compared to other covers, this rendition is faithful to the original song and has not been mixed with heavy production or changed drastically. It has, however, been given a new lease on live as the main theme song from Alice Through the looking Glass (2016), with a big sound that definitely adds to the feel of the movie.

In addition to rerecording ‘White Rabbit’, P!nk also contributed an original song for the movie’s soundtrack called “Just Like Fire”.

Alice Through The Looking Glass (2016) was released on the 27th of May 2016.
