The best thing about the Despicable Me movies is, without a doubt, Gru’s mischievous little minions. Even better is how those little yellow tots continue to be imagined and reshaped into popular icons of geek culture, like the X-Minions.

Some of our favourite minion transmogrifications include Star Wars Minions, Tim Burton Minions, The Big Bang Theory Minions and Sherlock Holmes Minions, among others.

Digital artist and illustrator, Chuck Mullins, has added to the body of work of minion transformations through his excellent portrayal of Despicable Me’s minions as fearsome and powerful mutants of Marvel’s Uncanny X-MEN. Better known as the X-Minions.

Mullins’ mash-up captures the quirky nature of Gru’s minions and melds them perfectly with the style and likeness of some of Marvel’s fan favourites.
